Audiokinetic's Wwise® brings new sound to Pandemic Studios titles

Pandemic Studios adopts Wwise for its portfolio of blockbuster action titles

San Francisco, Calif. - February 20, 2008 - At today's Game Developers Conference 2008, Audiokinetic Inc., a leading audio solution provider for the video game industry, announced today that its audio pipeline solution, Wwise, will power PC and console titles developed by Pandemic Studios.

After a thorough evaluation of Audiokinetic's products, Pandemic Studios decided to adopt Wwise for the development of Saboteur and a number of unannounced titles currently in production at its Los Angeles and Brisbane locations.

"The decision to partner with Audiokinetic was an easy one for us," said Josh Resnick, co-founder and co-general manager at Pandemic Studios. "We're always looking for smart ways to streamline our production efforts and enable our staff to be more creative and effective with their tools across all platforms. Wwise delivers exactly what our audio experts need to continue blowing away fans in trademark Pandemic Studios style."

The fact that Wwise greatly simplifies cross-platform development played an important role in Pandemic Studios' decision. Wwise allows game developers to easily and simultaneously create game audio for Windows®XP, Vista, the Xbox 360 videogame and entertainment system, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, and the Wii.

"It's a great accomplishment to see that world class developers like Pandemic Studios are ready to entrust Wwise with their entire audio production," says André Nadeau, President and CEO, Audiokinetic. "With the level of quality offered by Wwise, and the new price announced a few months ago, it definitely makes sense for developers to use Wwise rather than to build their own audio technology."
