Game & Game World Championship tournament under way.
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – Aug. 28, 2008 – NDOORS Interactive’s strategy MMORPG Atlantica Online will crown a champion at the 2008 Game & Game World Championship.
The competition already has its first two finalists, the winners of the European regional in Leipzig, Germany, held earlier this month. The European finalists are Robert “Rik” Witkovski of Poland and Duy “ParisHilton” Mai of Germany. They will meet to battle it out with the other finalists at the Grand Final in Seoul, South Korea, on Nov. 16.
“The thrilling final European match with Witkovski overcoming a two-game deficit to triumph over Mai in a best-out-of-five match heralds an incredibly exciting world championships,” said Peter Kang, CEO of NDOORS. “We have the world’s best coming to Seoul, where they will battle it out to determine who will be crowned champion in front of huge crowds of fans.”
Over the next several weeks, players from other regions of the world will fight for a chance to win the title of Atlantica world champion, including here in the United States. The North America Regional Final will be coming to Southern California Sept. 20.
The top two competitors from Europe, North America, South America, Southeast Asia, Japan and Korea will win paid airfare and hotel accommodations to compete in the finale of the GNGWC, a tournament for the world’s best online players. The 2008 GNGWC finals will take place at G-Star, Korea’s largest video game event. In addition to the trip to Korea, competitors also have a chance to win exclusive Atlantica gifts and gear and a grand prize of $5,000.
The North American competition is well under way and will conclude at the Sept. 20 regional final at Cyberia Internet Café in Gardena, about 15 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. Players have until Sept. 13 to earn one of the top 16 qualifying spots.
To compete, players must join and fight in the Atlantica Free Leagues. The Free Leagues are open to any players within the closed beta. Players within the game receive notifications before a Free League competition starts and only need to click ‘apply’ when the prompt appears during the game. Free League competitions take place every three hours, starting from midnight.
