ATF: Armored Task Force Digital Assault!

Classic Modern Warfare Title Now Available For Download!

News Release For Immediate Release

Hampstead, NC, 13 August 2007

Heading straight towards your hard drive like an APFSDS round streaking towards its target, ATF: Armored Task Force is now available as a download, direct from Shrapnel Games. Within mere minutes of purchase lay waste to your enemies, and immerse yourself in the carnage of the modern battlefield. HOORAH!

ATF: Armored Task Force, developed by ProSIM Company and published by Shrapnel Games, is THE simulation of late 20th century/early 21st century land combat, featuring a level of fidelity unsurpassed in commercial computer games. In fact, ATF: Armored Task Force is so accurate in its modeling of contemporary warfare that the sim's engine is in use by actual military organizations around the globe, and also by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company as a ground combat model to test advanced approaches and weapon systems for close air support.

ATF: Armored Task Force uses real-world digital maps for its scenarios, and plays out in real time (or as ProSIM refers to it, command time), although players should not confuse this version of real time strategy gaming with the juvenile clickfests often associated with the genre. In ATF: Armored Task Force virtual commanders must act like real commanders on the battlefield, and intelligently plan your assaults and properly maximize your assets, not simply 'tank rush' the opposing forces. Thankfully, unlike many games in which the player spends more time fighting the restrictions of the game rather than the enemy itself, ATF: Armored Task Force fully supports the player in their endeavors.

Real world terrain means that when a player finds a hull down position, it truly is a hull down location. Vehicles will pop smoke on their own accord at the appropriate time. Players can command at a mix of levels, controlling entire companies with a broad order, and then fine tuning their actions by taking control of individual vehicles. A layered friendly AI allows the player to make their orders as simple or complex as they wish, with the AI then filling in the gaps for the best performance.

Enemy AI challenges the player using decision point tactics, and most importantly, does not cheat. Combat resolution occurs at the single vehicle layer, with a model that takes into account a variety of factors such as facing, armor, and more. Besides playing against the AI, ATF: Armored Task Force allows opponents to face off against one another over the Internet.

The downloadable version of ATF: Armored Task Force is version 1.08, and represents the latest version (no patching required). It also includes the Scenario Pack, previously available as a separate download. The Scenario Pack consists of two scenarios (Bihac 1: Desperate Defense and Saudi Arabia 1: Desert Strike) and two maps (Bihac in Bosnia Herzegovina, and Wadi Dabl in Saudi Arabia). The full manual is also included as a PDF file.

You may purchase the download from the Shrapnel Games' e-store, the Gamers Front, at the following link for only $44.95. It is available for Windows-based computers only, and you must have access to a CD burner. Please note that the physical CD version of ATF: Armored Task Force will no longer be offered.
