ASUS European Nations Championship

Final to be held in Cologne, with €120,000 at stake.

Cologne, August 10, 2010 – The final of the ASUS European Nations Championship will be held in Cologne, Germany, at gamescom 2010 (August 18 - 22). The best computer game players of the continent will represent their countries and compete in six diffirent disciplines in front of the audience. The winners will be awarded the title and their share of €120,000. Electronic Sports League, eSports market leader, together with ASUS as the main sponsor, present the final matches of the tournament at the largest entertainment trade fair in Europe, hall 7.

The national representations which have qualified for the final round are: Germany, France, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, Ukraine, Russia, Romania and Bulgaria. The semi-final and final matches will be played in the following disciplines: FIFA 10, Warcraft 3, Quake Live, Counter-Strike: Source and Counter-Strike 1.6 (men and women). The United Kingdom is qualified for Counter-Strike: Source semi finals.

The qualifications for the final round of the ASUS European Nations Championship have been played online as well as at many live events in European cities such as Berlin, Vienna and Antwerp. Several matches were also played at some of the largest LAN events like 'Dreamhack' in Sweden and LAN Party in Poitiers.

ASUS European Nations Championship has been organised by the Eletronic Sports League since 2004. This year, for the first time in history, the female Counter-Strike 1.6 teams also take part in the tournament. The total sum of €120,000 is so far the highest prize purse in the European nations competition. Apart from ASUS, the eSports European Championship is supported by Windows 7 and gamed!de.

The final round of the ASUS European Nations Championship will be broadcasted live in hall 7 by ESL TV. All matches will be availabale in the video on demand section at www.esl.tv.

ASUS, one of the world‘s leading computer manufacturers, will present their newest hardware on 650 m² of space in hall 7. In addition, professional gamers as well as regular computer users will have the opportunity to find and test everything they might be looking for in five thematic areas. The names of those areas are: R.O.G. Gaming Corner, Connected Home, 3D Experience, Multimedia (Sonic Master) and Eee Gaming where you can try out the latest products. A Free Gaming Area with 16 high-end PCs and the latest titles to try out will be available especially for fans of computer games. Last but not least, every day all the visitors of ASUS R.O.G. can take part in quizes and win valuable prizes.

ASUS European Nations Championship (ENC)

The ASUS European Nations Championship (ENC) is the European championship for national teams, presented by the Electronic Sports League (ESL). Every season the ESL and ASUS invite all European countries to participate in a competition featuring Counter-Strike 1.6, Counter-Strike: Source, Warcraft 3, FIFA 10 and Quake Live. A total prize purse of $120,000 is handed out to the winners. The national teams qualify through a series of events in several European countries for the final at gamescom, taking place from August 18 - 22, 2010 in Cologne, Germany.
