ASA seminar to update marketers on advertising rules
Ratings systems and ad regulations on agenda following government report on protection of children from digital violence
The Advertising Standards Authority is to hold a seminar on the responsible advertising of videogames aimed at those working in games marketing, follows concerns raised by the Byron Review and the government's decision to better protect children in the digital world.
The ASA, which is responsible for ensuring the rules for videogame advertising are adhered to, is hoping to use the seminar to bring delegates up-to-date with the advertising rules, industry initiatives such as the ratings system, scheduling restrictions and how the ASA applies the rules when receiving complaints about videogame adverts.
The seminar is targeted specifically at professionals working in commissioning, producing or overseeing marketing communications in the videogame industry and will include various speakers, including Michael Rawlinson, ELSPA's director general.
The event will take place in London on July 22. More details and registration information can be found on its official website.
