Artificial Studios selects Kynapse for Cell Factor: Revolution.
For Immediate Release
Paris/France, Gainesville, Florida/USA - November 30, 2006 - Kynogon, market leader in AI middleware solutions for the gaming industry, announced today that Artificial Studios has selected Kynapse for Cell Factor: Revolution.
The Cell Factor demo was one of the most interesting findings at 2006 GDC. It caused enough of a stir to be turned into a full game at a budget price. This physics-heavy action game will offer first-person shooting action and psychic powers that will let the players smash the landscape to bits. Several thousand rigid-body objects within the environment can be used as weapons. Players can blow up chunks of the environments and toss them all over the place thanks to advanced physics supported by AGEIA's "PhysX" chip.
Jeremy Stieglitz, CEO at Artificial Studios, explained. "Cell Factor uses the AGEIA's physics engine to empower a very dynamic world, with thousands of destructible objects. Advanced physics need advanced AI. Destructible worlds, where the terrain is constantly changing, present one of the major challenges for Artificial Intelligence. As the terrain keeps changing, 3D pathfinding and 3D topology analysis become extremely complex. We needed an AI solution that would perform as credibly as Ageia does for the physics. Kynapse was the only real choice, no other AI solution can handle such an environment."
Pierre Pontevia, Kynogon CEO, agreed. "Artificial Studios is a studio with very talented people. They have come up with new ideas that will renew the FPS genre. Players are offered higher interaction, higher immersion and finally better game experience. They needed technology to support their ambition and we are proud to be part of their effort."
