EIEF06 Hosts First Ever Edge Mobile Award

Brand new award to be unveiled at Edinburgh Festival; Public voting live now on www.edge-online.co.uk

Friday 4 August 2006/... The Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival (EIEF06) is to host the first ever EIEF Edge Mobile Award at this year's event.

The inaugural EIEF Edge Mobile Award will be announced during the EIEF Edge Awards Reception on 21st August at the Jam House and will sit alongside the highly acclaimed EIEF Edge Award which is returning to the festival for its fourth year. The EIEF Edge Mobile Award aims to bring mobile gaming into the spotlight and will form a key part of the Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival.

Videogames fans will be able to give the casting vote for their favourite mobile title on the official Edge website - www.edge-online.co.uk - from 4th August.

Margaret Robertson, editor of Edge, said: "Mobile gaming has long been seen as an arena with huge economic potential, but we're now also seeing it begin to live up to its creative potential. The EIEF is the perfect place for Edge to celebrate the fact that mobile gaming is coming into its own."

Dirty Sanchez (Infospace)

Doom RPG (Jamdat)

Lumines Mobile (Gameloft)

Tower Bloxx (Digital Chocolate)

The EIEF06 program of events consists of:

Two days of conference sessions - The Industry Conference will take place at the Royal College of Physicians on 21st August and at the Odeon, Lothian Road on 22nd August Game Screenings - Offering members of the public a chance to get up close with the creators of some of the leading video games at the Odeon, Lothian Road - 22nd August EIEF Edge Award - Key industry figures will gather at the Jam House for the annual EIEF Edge Award and networking party - 21st August
