The long time games industry vet will lead the company's efforts to ramp up its digital gaming product offerings
Mattel announced today that it's hired Mike DeLaet as global head of digital gaming.
In his new role, he will oversee Mattel163, the company's partnership with NetEase which focuses on publishing games based on Mattel's intellectual property.
The publisher also said that he will be responsible for accelerating its digital gaming product offerings.
Throughout DeLaet's over 20-year career in the games industry, he's served in multiple positions such as publishing, management, and licensing.
Prior to his new position with Mattel, he was senior vice president of strategic partnerships at Scopely.
"As we ramp up our offerings through licensing partnerships, game tie-ins, and standalone releases, we are also looking to expand our own games across PC, console, mobile, and web-based platforms," said Mattel's President and COO Richard Dickson.
"We eagerly look forward to bringing Mike's leadership to bear in this growing vertical for Mattel."
