Among Us and League of Legends: Wild Rift named in 2021 App Store Awards
Apple celebrates the platform's most-downloaded free and premium titles of the year
Apple has unveiled the winners of its 2021 App Store Awards, celebrating the best apps and games on the platform, as well as the most-downloaded titles across the store.
League of Legends: Wild Rift picked up the iPhone Game of the Year award, while Marvel: Future Revolution, from Netease, snagged the iPad Game of the Year accolade.
Toca Boca's Toca Life World won iPhone App of the Year, while Mistwalker's Fantasian also snapped up the Apple Arcade Game of the Year.
Away from mobile, Cyan's Myst picked up Mac Game of the Year, and Pixelbite's Space Marshals 3 took home Apple TV Game of the Year.
The company also named the top 20 most downloaded games across several categories -- Free iPhone Games, Paid iPhone Games, Free iPad Games, Paid iPad Games, and Apple Arcade Games.
Innersloth's Among Us, Roblox, and Magic Tavern's Project Makeover made up the top three in Free iPhone Games, while Minecraft, Football Manager 2021 Mobile and Monopoly topped the Paid iPhone Games list.
The Free iPad Games list looked similar - Among Us and Roblox took the top two spots while Phone Case DIY from Crazy Labs took third place. In Paid iPad Games, Minecraft took first place, followed by Monopoly and Bloons TD 6.
Sonic Racing from Sumo was named as the most-downloaded Apple Arcade game, followed by Dinosaur Polo Club's Mini Motorways and Cut The Rope Remastered, from Zeptolab.
Apple named 'Connection' as the Trend of the Year for 2021, and awarded several apps for their contributions to the theme. Among the apps was Among Us, recognised for "cultivating community through bite-size matches."
