Addicting Games acquires Mope.io game

US site spends undisclosed seven-figure sum on browser and mobile title with 72 million players

Online games site Addicting Games has announced the acquisition of Mope.io, a multiplayer animal survival game for mobile devices and browsers.

The company did not disclose the amount spent on the acquisition, but GamesIndustry.biz has been told the deal was secured for a seven-figure sum.

Mope.io is a top-down multiplayer game where players compete to eat food scattered across randomly generated worlds. The more they eat, the bigger they become, enabling them to upgrade to larger animals.

It has racked up seven million downloads across iOS and Android, and has a total browser playerbase of 65 million players.

As of this deal, Mope.io will now be exclusive to Addicting Games on PC.

The company will also invest further in the game to add new features, some of which will target streamers and other influencers, and improve its performance on all devices.
