EGX Rezzed delayed until summer due to coronavirus pandemic
Update: New July dates announced for EGX Rezzed
Original story, March 13, 2020: EGX Rezzed will no-longer take place this month.
The indie games expo and industry event was scheduled to take place between March 26 and March 28 at London's Tobacco Dock.
The event will be moved to a currently unspecified date in the summer. Sister show MCM Birmingham, which was also due to take place this month, has been moved to June 27 through 28, and will remain at NEC Birmingham.
Both events have been delayed in response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
"We did everything that we could to try to run the event as planned, but ultimately, maintaining social distancing is neither feasible at, nor in the spirit of, the interactive and community nature of Rezzed," the organisers said in a statement. "It is the community that makes Rezzed so special and it is our duty to make sure that your safety comes first."
Existing tickets will be valid for the new dates. Those unable to make the new dates (when they are announced) are asked to contact the customer service team at egx.helpline@reedexpo.co.uk
GamesIndustry.biz's series of Rezzed events, including the Industry Party, Meet The Indies, GamesIndustry.biz HERoes and the GamesIndustry.biz Career Fair will move with the new show.
Most industry events have now been cancelled or postponed as a result of the pandemic, including the Game Developers Conference, which was due to take place this month, and E3, which was scheduled for June.
EGX Rezzed is run by GamesIndustry.biz parent company ReedPop.
Update, March 20, 2020: New dates for EGX Rezzed have been revealed after the event was cancelled last week.
The indie showcase will return to its usual location at the London Tobacco Docks this summer, from July 2 until July 4. All current ticket holders will have their tickets transferred to the new date.
