Trust Esport invests €1.5m in smartVR

French investment fund supports development of VR arcades and related esports services

French investment fund Trust Esport has made a €1.5 million ($1.7 million) investment in VR operator and studio smartVR.

Trust Esport is the investment fund from management company Apicap, specifically focused on providing seed financing for esports start-ups. This is Trust Esport's first investment in smartVR, and brings the company's total funding raised to €2 million.

SmartVR launched last year, with the goal of developing VR and esports endeavors locally in France as well as internationally. Currently, smartVR has 21 employees and almost 200 VR arcades in its network.

The investment will be used to expand that arcade network, as well as develop esports services in tandem with that network to grow teams, competitions, and audiences.
