Epic Games store establishes new refund policy
Previous contact form request system amended to unlimited refunds under 14 days, two hours played
The Epic Games store has amended its refund policy to be more in line with the policy on other storefronts such as Steam, though it is still working on a "self-service" solution.
In a tweet from Epic's director of publishing strategy Sergey Galyonkin today, Galyonkin said that the policy had changed to issue unlimited refunds if requested within 14 days of a game's purchase and under two hours played. This is identical to Steam's policy, which the company enacted in 2015.
However, Galyonkin notes that Epic still does not have a "self-service" solution. Previously, to receive a refund from the Epic Games store, users had to submit a request through a contact form and proceed through a number of verification steps, such as providing IP address, last four digits of the card that made the purchase, date the account was created, and other information. Epic that the process was for "player security."
Now, players must still go through the contact form, but will no longer be met with verification steps so long as they fall within the criteria.
Galyonkin also said elsewhere in the thread that the Epic Games store now supports 30 different regions for regional pricing (130 countries total), though local pricing and regional currencies would still take some time to implement.
