UK Charts: Crash Bandicoot holds off LEGO Incredibles and Octopath Traveler to stay No.1
But it was very, very close
Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy is the UK boxed No.1 for a third consecutive week, despite some strong competition.
Crash returned to No.1 three weeks ago on the back of the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch launch of the game. The Xbox One is performing marginally better than the Switch edition, although this is something very specific to the UK market with the Switch edition performing strongest across EMEA.
It just about holds off competition from the new LEGO game, LEGO The Incredibles. It's not the best performing LEGO game launch, indeed, recent LEGO titles haven't performed too strongly in the market - although they're still big sellers. The Incredibles is quite a specific licence, too, so is unlikely to match the bigger brands such as LEGO Star Wars. Its launch is below last year's LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 but ahead of LEGO Ninjago: The Movie.
46% of sales came on PS4, 30% on Xbox One and 23% on Nintendo Switch.
And that game just narrowly beat Octopath Traveler, Square Enix's unusually titled RPG for Nintendo Switch. It's actually a really good result for the game, as its sales are almost double that of Bravely Default (which is made by the same team back in December 2012) and more than double that game's sequel Bravely Second (release in 2016).
Indeed, the charts are so close that if we did this in terms of revenue, Octopath Traveler is No.1 due to its higher price tag. Octopath Traveler is the No.1 performing single platform game of the week.
In fourth place there is a big re-entry in the form of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. The Wii U game has been remade and updated for Nintendo Switch and 3DS. The Switch version accounted for 93% of the sales, while the 3DS version just 7%. The game's opening week sales were 40% lower than what the Wii U version managed back in 2014.
The only other newcomer is down at No.27, in the form of Sega's Shining Resonance Refrain.
None of these games include digital download figures.
