Fortnite racks up two million downloads on Switch in a single day
Despite releasing late last year, Fortnite has been featured prominently throughout E3 2018
Fortnite has been downloaded on the Switch over two million times in a single day, Nintendo of America confirmed this week.
Announced during Nintendo Direct at this year's E3, and made available moments after the stream, Fortnite on Switch began racking up downloads as quickly as you'd expect.
The Switch version joins the PC, Xbox, and iOS versions in being cross-platform compatible, but any accounts made on the the PlayStation 4 are locked to the console, much to the chagrin of fans.
To what extent this has stunted the download rate is impossible to track, but two million downloads in a one days suggests the impact has been relatively minor.
Despite being released late last year, Fortnite has not only dominated 2018, but also made waves throughout this year's E3, with several big announcements over the last few days.
Having reached 125 million players in less than 12 months, Epic Games also revealed that it would be launching the Fortnite World Cup in 2019, with a $100 million prize pool for esports tournaments.
