Sega Europe boss departs after four months
Chris Bergstresser leaves on strong terms
Sega Europe COO and president Chris Bergstresser has left the firm.
He joined the company back in August to oversee Sega's European HQ in London, alongside its five Western studios - Creative Assembly, Sports Interactive, Hardlight, Relic and Amplitude.
His previous experience included acting as an investment executive, board advisor and senior business manager for multiple major companies. He began in the industry with Sega in 1991, and has since held senior roles at Konami, Atari and Miniclip. He has also advised and supported the likes of Spil Games, Nitro Games and MTGx.
He replaced Jurgen Post, who departed Sega in the summer to become president of international partnerships for Europe
No reason was given for Bergstresser's departure, although Sega says he leaves the business 'on strong terms'. CEO of Sega West Tatsuyuki Miyazaki will step in as interim CEO and president while a replacement is sought. He'll be assisted by Sega Europe's senior management team, including EVP of Publishing John Clark, EVP of Studios Tim Heaton, and CFO John Ward.
"On behalf of the whole business, I would like to thank Chris for his hard work, integrity and his professionalism during his time at the helm of Sega's European operation," says Miyazaki.
"We wish him all the best for the future. I am looking forward to taking on the temporary role of COO and President as the business continues to evolve and grow. It's an exciting time for SEGA Europe and working with the talented team here, I am confident that its future remains as bright as ever."
