Mobile aquarium dips a toe into South Africa.

Moscow, July 1, 2009. The biggest aquarium in the world from Dynamic Pixels with worldwide players’ base near 2 million now available for South African subscribers of all region operators.

Analysts estimate South Africa’s mobile market as enormously potential: there is 90% penetration of mobile phones giving the region 36 million handsets in the market, of which 18 million are in the hands of the age group 13 to 28 year olds.

«We are extremely happy about these new prospects are opening for us in South African market. Population is most inclined towards mobile services, and this is not surprisingly, bearing in mind that South African mobile users are amongst the 5th highest users of mobile web services worldwide», says Dynamic Pixels’ CEO Mihail Minakov.

The virtual aquarium game engages users in managing a miniature ecosystem, with behaviour modeled on the real world. The aquarium’s fish – which can be individually named – sicken and die if not fed enough, if their tank isn’t cleaned or if oxygen levels drop.

The game is free giveaway and players are suggested to play making inside-game purchases of only what they need.

“It’s a hugely compelling game with compelling graphics and animation,” says Russel Stromin of Strike Media, who has license to distribute the game in South Africa. “There are shark and deep ocean versions as well as a coral reef version, for those who prefer a little more drama.”

Besides South Africa Aqua Phone was successfully launched in SEA, Middle East, Russia and CIS and Poland and is localized to 10 languages including Chinese, Viet, Thai, Greece.
