Apple pulls Weed Firm from App Store

Add drug dealing to the list of topics Apple is uncomfortable seeing in games. According to developer Manitoba Games, Apple recently pulled its top-performing free-to-play title Weed Firm from the App Store.

"This was entirely Apple's decision, not ours," according to a statement on the developer's website. "We guess the problem was that the game was just too good and got to number one in All Categories, since there are certainly a great number of weed-based apps still available, as well as games promoting other so-called 'illegal activities' such as shooting people, crashing cars and throwing birds at buildings."

The game was also pulled from the Google Play store, although Manitoba said that was more an issue with the publisher than the game itself. The company aims to resume selling the game on both storefronts, saying Weed Firm should return to the Google Play store "once we find a suitable publisher," while a censored version would eventually go up on the App Store.

"We do not want kids playing Weed Firm, but we firmly believe that adults should have a choice to do whatever the hell they want as long as they are not hurting anybody in the process," the company said.
