App Annie buys AppScotch

This is the third acquisition deal in two years for the leading mobile data firm

App Annie has acquired the marketing data company AppScotch, the company's third such deal in the space of two years.

AppScotch was founded by Andrey Kazakov and Max Gannutin in 2013. The San Francisco startup offers a suite of tools and services intended to bring, transparency to mobile advertising. App Annie CEO Bertrand Schmitt described AppScotch's technology as "complementary" to its own.

"We are always looking for technologies and talent that enhance our products and mission," Schmitt said in a statement. "App Annie is developing its next wave of innovative products that clients will find invaluable in planning their app development and marketing strategies, and this acquisition supports this development."

This is App Annie's third acquisition in less than two years, following the deals for Distimo in May 2014 and Mobidia in May 2015.

App Annie's expansion is backed by a huge amount of funding. Since May 2014, the mobile analytics company has raised $135 million in funding across three separate rounds, the largest of which was $63 million in January this year.
