Android device activations hit 900k a day

Google's SVP of mobile Andy Rubin releases figure after squashing rumours of his resignation

Android device activations have now passed 900,000 a day.

"No plans to leave Google. Oh, and just for meme completeness -- there are over 900,000 android devices activated each day," he said.

Android has led the mobile market in terms of device activations for several years. However, despite promising results from Amazon's app store, developers are struggling to generate revenue from their products, and a recent survey indicated waning interest in the platform as a result.
