Amazon named EMA's Retailer of the Year

The association's annual awards also hands GameStop best videogame retailer prize

Amazon.com has been named DVD and Blu-ray Retailer of the Year by the Entertainment Merchants Association in its annual awards.

The awards strive to recognise leading retailers in the home entertainment industry and reward those that deliver exceptional results. Recipients are chosen by colleagues based on their business practices, operational policies, marketing and merchandising programs, customer service and EMA involvement.

"The award winners are recognised in the home entertainment industry as the leaders of their trade," explained EMA president and CEO Bo Andersen. "EMA honours and commends the chosen merchants for their steadfast dedication to delivering an exceptional consumer experience and providing positive models for the industry."

Retail outlet GameStop was also chosen by the EMA for the Videogame Retailing award.

"Each of the selected retailers has distinguished itself in the marketplace and serves as an example of the best in home entertainment retailing," said EMA chairman Bob Geistman. "They are a credit to our industry."
