Amalur beats Darkness II to number one

Fantasy RPG heads straight to the top of UK software chart

After so many weeks of FIFA dominance there's another change at the top, as RPG Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning charged in to number one, pushing Final Fantasy XIII-2 down to second place. Another new entry, The Darkness 2, took third.

The only new entry in the top 20 this week was Catherine, which sneaked in at 20. Not a bad result for a niche puzzle-platformer.

Elsewhere Mario & Sonic London 2012 Olympic Games made a surprise return to the top end of the chart, shooting up from 29 to 10. Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure also managed to move up from 22 to 14.
