Alliance of Valiant Arms
ijji.com-sponsored North American team trounces Japanese and Korean counterparts in International e-Sports Federation tournament in Korea.
Upsets don’t just happen in real sporting events. When the Alliance of Valiant Arms production and marketing departments at ijji.com decided to foot the bill for a North American gaming team to take part in the 2010 International e-Sports Federation (IeSF) tournament in Daegu, South Korea, it expected the only hospitality American players would enjoy would be away from the computer screens, mice and keyboards.
But after seeing the American team shock the gaming world with its stunning upset of the Japanese and Korean teams, ijji.com knew it needed to celebrate the moment. As part of the celebration, ijji.com set up a commemoration page to honor Team DefkoN, winners of the 2010 IeSF A.V.A title. This page features videos, pictures and details about how Team DefkoN captured the world title in A.V.A.
The American team captured the regional title to earn the all-expenses paid trip for the Grand Final, facing off against teams from more than 30 countries before claiming first place and the 5-million Won prize (approximately $4,500).
“I’ve been watching competitive Alliance of Valiant Arms matches since the product launched but never did I expect to see it played at this level,” said Wook Kim, A.V.A project manager at NHN USA. “The Americans bringing this title home to the States proves ijji.com truly is the home for hardcore gamers. Anybody serious about multiplayer online FPS knows A.V.A is where legitimate competition is.”
