Airborne Entertainment licenses Robotech

Cult anime series gains exclusive mobile content

Mobile entertainment publisher, Airborne Entertainment, has announced an exclusive licensing deal with Harmony Gold to bring the acclaimed anime series Robotech to mobile phones.

Under the terms of the new deal, Airborne will publish a broad range of mobile content based on the legendary anime series through major wireless carriers this spring, including wallpapers, icons, images, ringtones and ringback tones. A new Robotech game is also being developed for mobile phones.

Christy Pawlak, Harmony Gold's director of business development, commented: "Airborne has been extremely successful in mobilizing many highly recognized brands and we are thrilled to be able to offer ringtones, wallpapers and games to our loyal Robotech and anime fans.

A sweeping science fiction anime epic spanning three generations of humans defending their home world against alien domination, the story of Robotech is told through the eyes of characters caught up in a series of wars that erupts when a mysterious spacecraft crash-lands on Earth at the turn of the millennium. As one of the first anime series to take hold in territories outside of its native Japan, Robotech has helped to spearhead the anime genre's global popularity, with various theatrical imports, specialised anime television networks, US remakes and more.

Airborne Entertainment president Andy Nulman added: "As the embrace between the wireless community and the general entertainment world becomes tighter, we strongly believe that successful narrative franchises like Robotech will continue to cross over to mobile genres. Our deal with Harmony Gold is a great example of this trend and we are extremely excited to be the ones to take the Robotech franchise mobile."

A subsidiary of CYBIRD, Airborne Entertainment is a provider and publisher of premier mobile entertainment content and applications, including games, images, video, ringtones, ringback tones and informational content. The company's portfolio of products includes both original and branded properties such as Family Guy, Maxim ToGo, NHL Mobile and Donald Trump's Real Estate Tycoon. Airborne's products are currently available across wireless carriers in North America and Europe.
