Abandon Mobile warms up the Winter Olympics
Bode Miller Alpine Racing now available in the US
Mobile game developer and publisher Abandon Mobile has announced the launch of new NBC Sports wireless games Bode Miller Alpine Racer, which features the professional advice and physical likeness of the reigning double world championship skier.
Featuring three events - Downhill, Slalom and Super-G - Alpine Racing challenges players to master effective turning, well-timed tucks and conservative use of energy as they guide Bode to victory on the slopes. Five different types of skis are available, based on speed, agility and power, and the US Ski Team champion will provide professional advice, tips and tactics to help even the novice alpine racer achieve Gold.
Abandon Mobile COO Jamie Ottilie commented: "Bode has made a name for himself by being an edgy, outspoken member of the U.S. Ski Team, and we really worked to capture the spark and excitement that is Bode Miller and feed that into the game. Now everyone with a mobile phone gets to hit the slopes in the game with Bode while cheering him on through his upcoming competitions."
Abandon has also released NBC Sports Figure Skating, featuring fierce competitive skating with some of the world's best female figure skaters. Both titles are available now for more than 110 mobile handsets to customers on the Cingular Wireless, Sprint PCS and Verizon Wireless networks, and will be branded and supported by NBC Sports, including promotion of the games on air during NBC Sports broadcasts.
In August 2005, Abandon Mobile entered into an exclusive worldwide partnership with NBC Sports to bring NBC Sports branded games to mobile phones. The two winter sports titles mark the first releases under this long-term partnership, and will be followed by a number of titles, including NBC Sports Heads-Up Poker and NBC Sports Real Golf, later in the year.
