7th Annual Mod of the Year Awards
Top 100 mods of 2008 unveiled.
Melbourne, Australia, January 19, 2009 – Mod DB ( www.moddb.com) today unveiled the Top 100 Mods of 2008 for its 7th Annual Mod of the Year (MOTY) Awards ( www.moddb.com/events/2008-mod-of-the-year-awards/top100). The top 100 was finalized after 58,000 votes from the gaming community narrowed the 4,000 eligible contenders to the year’s best. The gaming community, including independent developers, game designers and the general public, are encouraged to continue their participation and explore the titles showcased as Mod DB continues its search to unearth the year’s best. Votes are being accepted through February 4th and winners will be announced on February 28th.
“The popularity of developing and playing mods has grown significantly this year as developers strive to explore new ideas, and gamers seek out original content,” said Scott Reismanis, Founder, Mod DB, the event organizer. “The support and availability of mods continues to improve as digital distribution applications push tomorrow's innovations onto the gaming community. We’re proud to be hosting the Mod of the Year Awards for the seventh straight year and to be recognizing the great works of such talented artists.”
HOW TO VOTE
Those interested in playing and voting for their favorite mods can do so by browsing the top 100 ( www.moddb.com/events/2008-mod-of-the-year-awards/top100) and clicking the “VOTE NOW” button prominently shown beside all mods listed. On February 4th voting will close and the editors' choice winners will be announced while the players' choice votes are tallied and winners showcase prepared. The year's best mods and independent games will be announced at the end of February.
