3DS holds the top spot in Japan

Handheld takes number one despite sales decline following debut week of Super Mario 3D

The Nintendo 3DS was the the most popular hardware in Japan last week despite sales declining nearly 30 per cent from the previous week's total.

According to data from Media Create, as reported by Andriasang, the sales boost it enjoyed following the release of Super Mario 3D Land was short-lived - it sold 103,962 units, compared to 145,271 units the week before.

Super Mario 3D Land also lost sales, falling from 436,933 units in its debut week to just 93,441 units for the week ending November 13.

The highest new entry in the software chart was Hatsune Miku Project Diva Extend, which took the number one spot after selling 184,673 units.
