The Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card and video games are products of strategy, where players create individual decks of cards collected from Structure Decks and Booster Packs. Two players engage in a Duel while using cards that represent powerful Monsters, magical Spells and surprising Traps. Duelists with well-constructed decks, dominating monsters, solid strategy and good fortune are the victors in the game.
With over 1 million currently active players worldwide, cards printed in nine different languages and with over 15.8 billion cards sold worldwide since its launch, the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG is a global phenomenon. In Europe alone, over 2.5 billion cards have been sold since its European introduction in May 2003. The Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG is manufactured by Konami, and is distributed worldwide (with the exception of Asia) by Upper Deck.
About Yu-Gi-Oh!™
The Yu-Gi-Oh!™ franchise is based on the Yu-Gi-Oh!™ comic series from artist Kazuki Takahashi that first appeared in Japan in 1996. It is currently being serialized in SHONEN JUMP, the monthly manga magazine published by VIZ Media. The comic spawned a hit cartoon TV show, a top-selling trading card game, popular video games and other licensed merchandise. Yu-Gi-Oh!™ follows the adventures of Yugi, a young boy who possesses the "Millennium Puzzle" that allows him to transform into the "Duelist King" whenever he is challenged.
The object of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME is to win a match (which consists of three Duels) by reducing an opponent’s “life points” from 8,000 to zero. This is accomplished through a series of turns using a deck with a minimum of 40 cards and a combination of strategy, skill and luck. Three main types of cards are used in Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG: Monster Cards, Spell Cards and Trap Cards, with each category being further divided into sub-categories. For more information on the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME or Upper Deck Entertainment, please visit www.yugioh-card.com or www.ude.com.
Konami has shipped more than 5 million units of Yu-Gi-Oh!™ video games in Europe since the series' debuted at the end of 2002. Key titles include Yu-Gi-Oh! Nightmare Troubadour, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Tag Force, Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelist of the Roses, with high quality titles available for a host of formats. Millions of duels have been played with Yu-Gi-Oh! Online Duel Evolution, the free online game for PC, which receives regular updates at www.yugioh-online.net. The games are recognized for the deeply strategic and challenging gameplay based on the hugely popular Yu-Gi-Oh! universe.
