2008-2009 National Council for Work Experience Awards
Eutechnyx shortlisted for services to work placement.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Gateshead, UK, 29th January 2009 – Videogame developer Eutechnyx is pleased to announce its shortlisting for the 2008-2009 National Council for Work Experience Awards.
Eutechnyx’ undergraduate placement program, Level Up, has earned the company a finalist place in the Best Work Experience Provider: 10—250 Employees category.
Eutechnyx initiated Level Up 2 years ago in collaboration with UK universities offering game development courses looking to place students in 12-month undergraduate programs. Under the system, students join Eutechnyx for a year, during which time they work beside some of the most talented game developers in the country and contribute to real, million-dollar projects. The experience earned is invaluable, with mentors guiding students’ development as part of actual work experience on a Triple A videogame.
Eutechnyx is still the only game developer to receive Investor in People status and this commitment to employees is also present in the company’s approach to their undergraduate placement program.
“We offer the best training in the world and so expect only the best from applicants”, explains Arwen Duddington, the Level Up Team Leader, “We limit the places available and this encourages competition and excellence from those applying. We individually mentor each student and provide a tailor-made placement. I think that helps make Level Up the success it is: by driving the students to excel, it also helps us excel and give them the training and experience they deserve.”
