2007 Global Games Summit – A New Forum for the Worldwide Interactive Entertainment Industry
International Interactive Game Business and Emerging Markets the Unique Focus for This Conference
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SEATTLE, Washington - August 31, 2006 - Evergreen Events today announced plans for a full-scale Global Games Summit (GGS) event, building on the success of preliminary events held during 2006. The Global Games Summit's exclusive focus is the increasingly global nature of the interactive entertainment industry, including the incredible potential that emerging markets such as India, China, and Brazil offer. GGS will take place on May 7-8, 2007 at the luxurious Fairmont Olympic Hotel in downtown Seattle. GGS will conclude on May 9th with a charity golf tournament at a premier golf course in the Seattle locality. All proceeds will go to Child's Play, a charity created by Penny Arcade that benefits Children's Hospitals across the globe.
James Hursthouse, CEO of Online Game Services Inc., and the Global Games Summit Advisory Board Chair, commented: "It's becoming clear that a global perspective is increasingly important for the interactive entertainment industry as traditional distribution gives way to a more online-centric approach. The 2007 Global Games Summit will address the trend towards globalization head on, helping game companies define their roles on the worldwide stage, and establish business relationships with companies from an ever-increasing number of important game markets."
Emiliano de Castro, Vice-President of Institutional Relations, Abragames, offered an international perspective: "GGS represents a terrific opportunity to talk about the challenges of the global marketplace and present new alternatives for the games industry. I expect this event will be a perfect place to showcase new players and potential partners from emerging markets to industry leaders."
As David Cole, President of DFC Intelligence points out, "The overall games market is not only growing rapidly but has become a truly global industry. For example, the worldwide games market as of 2005 had revenue of $29 billion, while the North American share was $12 billion of that. By 2011 we forecast the global marketplace will have ballooned to $44 billion, with $26 billion coming from outside North America. Clearly, the market outside the United States represents an enormous opportunity to prepared, well-informed game developers, publishers and other interests in that revenue stream."
The Global Games Summit will feature informative sessions from leading industry experts from all four corners of the globe, a business-meeting matrix to facilitate company-to-company meetings, and a range of networking events designed to foster and establish new relationships.
