100 jobs cut at Future UK

Magazine and online publisher to close titles as it moves to digital markets

Edge, CVG and GamesRadar publisher Future is to cut around 100 jobs in the UK.

Staff are currently being consulted on the layoffs and its not yet clear which publications or websites are affected. GamesIndustry.biz understands that at least one video game magazine is likely to close. The company has a headcount of around 1000 people in the UK.

Earlier today Future released an interim statement indicating that to cut costs it is preparing to reduce headcount as it accelerates plans to become a digital business. US magazines are to close over the next twelve months, and the UK was already known to be in the process of being streamlined.
