Xbox 360 outsells PlayStation 3 in Japan

Nintendo formats continue to dominate hardware sales in the region

The Xbox 360 has outsold Sony's PlayStation 3 in Japan for the second week running.

The Microsoft console sold 13,777 units according to figures from Media Create, compared to 8,156 PlayStation 3 units, for the week ended September 21.

However, Nintendo continues to dominate hardware sales in the region, with the DS selling 61,242 units, and the Wii 29,921 units.

Sony's strongest hardware in the region is the PSP, which sold 29,921 units, while the PlayStation 2 sold 7,720 units.
