Trecision goes into liquidation

Italy's oldest development studio, Trecision, has gone into liquidation after 12 years in business - but the company is hopeful that a buyer may step in to allow the completion of work on its forthcoming football title.

The company is a victim of the fallout from the closure of publisher Cryo last year, and this news will come as a blow to fans of classic football games such as Kick Off, Goal! and Player Manager, whose creator Dino Dini was working with Trecision on a new football game.

"This is something extremely sad," commented Trecision managing director Pietro Montelatici, "after 12 years with our best game ever in development it's even worse. Cryo's closure last year hit us heavily and now shareholders decided not to sustain Trecision anymore so we had no choice but to close. I would like to thank all the people I worked with here in Trecision, they are simply great."

The studio's previous football title, Football Generation, is set to be published by MiDaS, and the company is hopeful that it will be able to complete and deliver this title under the court's supervision. The future of the other football game, however, hinges on a buyer being found for the game assets.

"I strongly hope that an interested party will see the huge opportunity to buy part of Trecision's asset, employ the team and finish what can be one of the best soccer game in the market," Montelatici told gi.biz. "Both the project and the team deserve this."
