Tech TV

Former BBC and Sky News reporter creates company to get games on TV.

Ever wondered why?

A former national TV reporter and presenter knows the answer and has set up a specialist video production firm to help give the gaming, tech and new media sectors a leg-up onto mainstream TV.

Matt Smith, who’s worked as a senior reporter, presenter and producer for the BBC and Sky News for the last fifteen years, has created Tech TV, a production company to work with gaming firms and their PRs.

Matt says he created Tech TV out of a love of technology and gaming and a frustration at trying to cover it for TV news:

“There’s a really big appetite in newsrooms right now for technology and gaming stories.  But as a reporter, I often struggled to get any decent pictures together and without decent pictures, the story quickly gets ditched.”

“The problem is gaming firms don’t seem to know how to shoot, cut and prepare their stuff for broadcast TV.  They make cutting edge products but usually present them in a range of low-tech or amateur ways.  Or if they do try to shoot it professionally, it’s done in completely the wrong way.”

Tech TV is instead offering to shoot, cut, edit and deliver broadcast quality footage that is ready to run on TV, right now.  The firm can produce video news releases (VNRs), interviews, and product shots so gaming and PR firms will be ready for anything from The One Show to Channel 5 News.  The firm can also produce web-based promo material (trailers, features etc).
