Revenue down 65% at Atari, but online grows

Online revenues up 40 per cent due to subscriptions from Star Trek and Champions Online

Atari revenues for the first quarter were down 65 per cent, from €54.5 million last year to €19.3 million.

Last year the publisher released Ghostbusters: The Video Game and The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena during its first quarter, but this year only pushed out one title, Sandlot Sluggers.

However, the quarter's big success was online revenue, which grew from less than 4 per cent last year to 43.5 per cent, accounting for €8.4 million in revenue, due to subscriptions from Star Trek Online and Champions Online.

Atari is set to release more retail products later this year, including Test Drive Unlimited 2, Haunted House, Backyard Sport: Rookie Rush and a series of XBLA, PSN and PC downloadable games based on some of its classic brands. The Witcher 2: Assassin's of Kings, is due in spring 2011.
