PlayStation 3 sales tumble further as the Xbox 360 advances on its lead
Sony's PlayStation Portable has shot to the top of the Japanese hardware sales chart for the week ended October 19, with 159,816 units, according to data provided by Media Create.
The news confirms earlier reports that the new PSP 3000 drew in sales amounting to almost seven times higher than the previous week's total. The formerly dominant Nintendo DS lagged behind in sales at 29,839.
Nintendo's Wii led the home console race this week, selling 26,024 units, followed by the Xbox 360 at 7856 units and the PlayStation 2 at 7261.
Another successive drop in sales figures kept the PlayStation 3 at the bottom of the chart with 4725 units.
