PopCap Games recruits new CFO
Bejeweled publisher recruits Robert Chamberlain to oversee finances and expansion plans
PopCap Games has recruited Robert Chamberlain as its new chief financial officer. The former Watchguard Technologies exec has over 30 years experience in senior finance roles; experience which PopCap plans to utilise within the finance team Chamberlain will be heading up.
"We're thrilled to have a seasoned financial veteran like Bob joining our management team and overseeing finances," said Dave Roberts, CEO at PopCap. "He’ll oversee a sizeable team of finance and accounting professionals while also providing critical expertise to our overall expansion plans. As we mature into a sizeable corporation, it will be invaluable to have him guiding our financial future in every key respect."
Chamberlain, who has worked in similar roles with F5 Networks, Onyx Software and Watchguard Technologies, takes up his new position at the end of August, replacing the company's interim CFO Karla Horwitz.
"PopCap's something of an anomaly in the software business - and a rarity in the technology sector as a whole," he commented.
"Profitable from day one while growing to nearly 250 full time employees in ten years while never taking outside funding, which is a major accomplishment. Best of all, the company has tremendous potential, in terms of geographic, platform and channel growth - and I'm excited to be a part of it."
PopCap Games, which develops casual games across a range of platforms, is based in Seattle, Washington. Its flagship franchise, Bejeweled, has now sold more than 25 million units on PC and assorted mobile formats.
