Modern Warfare 2 given November release date
The sequel to Infinity Ward's critically-acclaimed FPS apparently drops "Call of Duty" title
Activision has issued a release date for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the follow-up to Infinity Ward's critically-acclaimed shooter, with the title set to hit shelves on November 10.
Curiously the announcement trailer makes no mention of the Call of Duty franchise, merely referring to the game as Modern Warfare 2, suggesting that Activision may believe the title is strong enough to stand as an independent series.
"Everyone on the team is laser focused on making the most gripping experience we’ve ever created," said Infinity Ward's CEO, Vince Zampella. "No detail is too small and every finishing touch imaginable is underway to make Modern Warfare 2 our best ever. We can’t wait for our fans around the world to play starting November 10."
Earlier this month, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, picked up three BAFTAs, including Gameplay, Story & Character and the GAME Award of 2008.
Following its initial release, the title sat atop various regional sales charts and became a popular multiplayer game - with over 14 million online players.
