Guardian games coverage moves to G2
Games move to G2 from January 7; Gamesblog to continue
The Guardian's games coverage will be continuing in G2 magazine from January 7 onwards.
The news follows the closure of the newspaper's Technology print section last week, which housed the publication's gaming, mobile and internet coverage.
"I am thrilled to announce that our games coverage will be continuing in G2," said the Guardian's technology editor Charles Arthur. "Our award-winning Gamesblog will also continue, and we have plans to expand our coverage in the new year to include previews.
"We know that people trust our games coverage because - increasingly - more people are buying games online via our site, and we are extremely confident that our games coverage will go from strength to strength in 2010, both in print and online."
The closure of the Technology section was part of a series of cutbacks at Guardian News & Media following a GBP 33 million drop in revenues, as reported last month.
More than 100 editorial and commercial jobs at the company are expected to be lost, with editorial restructuring to be managed through voluntary redundancies and redeployment.
