GDC Canada unveiled
Event organiser further reveals record number of guests attended the Austin Game Developers Conference
Think Services' Game Group, the organiser of the Game Developers Conderence, has announced a partnership with Reboot Communications to present Game Developers Conference Canada in association with New Media BC's Vancouver Digital Week in May 2009.
GDC Canada will focus on promoting information exchange, creating connections and stimulating creativity, the event will also feature perspectives on cross-discipline and cross-platform content, with an eye to serving the Canadian games business sector.
"GDC's strength is in its ability to translate its core values to provide both global and local relevance," said Kathy Schoback, EVP of Global Events, Think Services. "We are incredibly excited to partner with Reboot and New Media BC on GDC Canada, which will serve the regional development community with conference content designed to engender learning, networking and inspiration."
Think Services further announced that the 2008 Austin Game Developers Conference broke attendance records by attracting 3000 attendees to the event, which took place over September 15-17 at the Austin Convention Center. This represents an 11 per cent increase over last year's numbers.
"Similar to the title of one of our keynote addresses, 'At Your Service Putting Customer First', we took to heart all the feedback from our attendees, sponsors and exhibitors from 2007's event to create an even better experience for AGDC08," commented Izora De Lillard, conference director.
"Seeing the amount of energy, enthusiasm, and satisfaction from everyone over the three days is proof that the conference has indeed 'evolved and won'. We'll again take a look at the feedback from this year's event to continue to create a community of learning, networking, and inspiration for the 2009 Austin Game Developers Conference."
