GAME announces group sales up 28%
Spending patterns of consumers "relatively resilient" despite economic gloom
The GAME Group has released an interim management statement with a trading update for the 44 weeks to the end of November, with the headline news that total Group sales were up 27.4 per cent, while like-for-like sales were up 11.2 per cent.
And despite a tough economic climate, the 18 weeks to the end of November also saw an overall rise of 9.3 per cent, and a like-for-like rise of 1.5 per cent.
During the 44 weeks the company has enlarged its portfolio by 183 stores, bringing the total number to 1340 for the Christmas period across the UK, Europe and Australia.
"To date, our customers' spending patterns have remained relatively resilient considering the challenges in the wider economy," noted the statement. "Our previous guidance is unchanged and the Board remains confident of a successful outcome for the year."
GAME will publish its Christmas sales figures on January 13.
