Brightside Games sees the light of day

New studio 'successful before even being founded.

Berlin, 08 July 2010 – From students to executives: together with remote control productions, a Munich based production house, graduates from the Technical University of Berlin have founded the independent games developer Brightside Games. The studio is managed by Thomas Bedenk and Johannes Giering and is specializing in developing innovative indie PC and console games.

The game start-up has already been successful before even being founded: its Xbox 360 prototype of the arcade shooter game “Zeit²” stood up to hundreds of competitors and reached the finals of the Indie Game Challenge 2010, the IGF Student Showcase 2009 and the Dream Build Play 2008 Challenge.

Additionally, last year, the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology of Germany selected Brightside Games for the EXIST Start-Up program which included a grant of €100,000. Also in 2009, the team from Berlin won the “Founders Competition - Multimedia” for start-ups. The studio is currently working on the final development of “Zeit2” which has been signed by a global major publisher.

Thomas Bedenk, creative head of Brightside Games, could not say it better himself in regards to the coming challenges: “The extremely positive feedback from all over the world on our “Zeit²” prototype inspired us to get into developing games professionally. With our dynamic team and the

support of remote control productions, we are all well prepared for the future. Brightside Games’ innovative concepts aim to fill players throughout the world with enthusiasm.

Another party being extremely pleased is Hendrik Lesser, Managing Director of remote control productions: “With Brightside Games we successfully paved the way for another creative studio that can bank on healthy foundations. We will continue to accompany and support Brightside Games with our experience and extensive networks.”
