Monster Hunter Japanese sales hit 3m units

PSP title is Capcom's first game to hit the landmark and becomes bestseller in the region

Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter Freedom 2G, together with the later iteration Monster Hunter Freedom 2G the Best, has shipped a total of 3 million units in Japan.

Last year, the PlayStation Portable title sold more than any other game in the region and represented the publisher's first game to hit the 3 million milestone.

Since the launch of the original Monster Hunter title, five years ago this March, the series has sold more than 8.5 million units.

"Thanks to the overwhelming support of our many fans, this title has become a major phenomenon with people in all walks of life since its release," Capcom said in a statement.
