Pocket Worlds closes $7m funding round
The series A investment will go towards growing its portfolio of social mobile games
Mobile games developer Pocket Worlds raised $7 million in a series A round led by Bitkraft Ventures.
Other investors included BoxGroup, Everblue Management, GFR Fund, Sweet Capital, and Oliver Miao, CEO of Pixelberry Studios.
The investment will go towards the development of more mobile games, as well as growing the team, which is fully remote.
Pocket Worlds currently only has one game in its portfolio, avatar-based social network Highrise, which boasts seven million users. The developer's ambition is to build games that are "social by design and last for decades."
Anton Bernstein, co-founder and CEO of Pocket Worlds, commented: "We've experienced 6X growth in this past year where people are craving connection more than ever. This investment will enable us to bring a broader variety of social-first games to the market and develop our globally distributed team significantly."
Bitkraft Ventures last year raised $165 million for its VC fund, which focuses on games, esports, and interactive media companies. It recently invested in Playable Worlds and Voicemod.
