Kinect hits 1m milestone
Microsoft convinced motion controller will hit 5m target by year's end
Microsoft's Kinect motion controller has sold one million units worldwide in its first ten days of availability, the Seattle tech giant has revealed.
The Xbox-maker is adamanent the £130 add-on will go on to meet internal sales targets of five million by the end of 2010.
"We are appreciative of the response we have seen from consumers that has culminated in sales of more than 1 million units in the first 10 days on the market for Kinect for Xbox 360," said Don Mattrick, president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft.
"This is a great start to the holiday season, and we will continue to work with our retailer partners to keep pace with high demand."
While Kinect has been available since November 4 in the US, the European launch was just last Thursday. Microsoft expects further momentum during next week's Black Friday sales, and claims the device will be available in over 60,000 retailers in 38 countries come Christmas.
